It is Halloween season officially so I thought I would introduce a little Wednesday section for the next two weeks with recommendations of horror films and books perfect for this time of year. As always, hit subscribe below to support me a little further and you will be granted twenty seconds of good luck as a bonus. Don’t miss out.
House Of Leaves is my go-to recommendation for anybody interested in unique literature. There is a story within a documentary that comes with unique design elements and many footnotes. I linked a spoiler-free review that covers everything important minus the note that you have to read this physical. If you try to read this digitally, it will not work out well, and you will lose much of the feeling this book successfully produces.
Tubi is a weird free movie site that I have known about for a while, but I never knew that it actually had some okay content. This is a wonderland if you are into cheap, low-budget-found footage films. Check out Mortal Remains and The Tunnel, which are far from great movies but provide spooks, and the low budget strangely helps them. Have an exploration and let me know what you find.
Batman Comics have extended to the furthest corners of imagination at this point; if you are a massive nerd like myself and want to read something suited to the spooky season, this is a top ten list of comics to read. I have read about six of the ones on this particular list, and it seems pretty legit.
Incidents Around The House is a book that has been on my read list since July. I haven’t actually gotten started on it yet, but I am putting it here to inspire myself. A friend who always recommends great stuff informed me that I would love this book so we will see. Let’s read it together! The Author's Note at the beginning of the book provides an interesting tease of the formatting. All I know is that it is told from the perspective of a child witnessing a haunting.
The unique format of this book is intentional: left-justified for narration/action, indentation for dialogue, with spaces between. All in the name of perspective: This story is told by a child.

That is all for the first-ever spook. Come back next week and see what other spooky surprises lurk in the shadows. See you there. Sound off below as always.
